The following piece of art is made in honor of my hero, and role-model, my grandfather Homer Douglas Jones. He is my inspiration in life, to "Try until you achieve, there is no giving up". This project is a Risograph project, made as a 5x7 inches size paper, printed with blue toner. The criterion of the project retains around generating a book around a subject matter of my choosing. For the subject matter that I know like the back of my hand is poker. Ever since I was about 6-9 years old, I remember attending family occasions where we got together to commune and enjoy a social atmosphere. Poker is one of my families well known time passing traditions. Whenever there's a weekend, a passing of a family member, or celebration of a holiday or birthday, we played cards and caught up with one another. Granted - Thinking poker is gambling with money which you're absolutely right though we only gambled within means of quarters or the dealer's choice or tournament day pricing. I remember spending time with my uncles who are 5 times as old as me if not more who've been gambling cards their whole life. The book is based on poker, variants of games, and knowing the basic understanding of entire round of how cards are laid down for traditional games like Omaha or Texas Holden. I commemorate an entire section in the book to my grandpa whose words and legacy has been passed down to his grandson, I write his words not to inspire others to want to play cards but to tell how much of an amazing person and the impact he's played on my life as a model of how to be kind and respectful to others.
